What do you get when a dinosaur hits a three-pointer?
The GIST: A dino-score. And you better believe our dinos, the Toronto Raptors, were scoring on Saturday, when they beat the Philadelphia 76ers 108–-95 in the first game of their second-round series.
Let’s talk Kawhi: A HUGE reason for the Raptors’ uncharacteristic first-game win is Kawhi Leonard. “The Claw” went off for 45 points in Game 1, setting a career playoff high. Our fave Kawhi plays? Watch ’em here.
We also have to give a shout out to Pascal Siakam (aka Spicy P) for getting muy caliente, scoring 29 of the Raps’ 108 points, and to Kyle Lowry for playing some beautiful defence.
And one more shout-out to all the celebs who attended to make this game a star-studded affair. We’re talking Drake (as expected), rookie sensation and Toronto Blue Jay Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (we loved it when the fans started chanting “Vladdy, Vladdy”), Jays pitcher Marcus Stroman, Shawn Mendes (who needs no introduction), former Raptor and current Indiana Pacer Cory Joseph, college and soon-to-be NBA star RJ Barrett and actress Elisabeth Moss from Handmaid's Tale.
Elsewhere in the NBA: It’s the defending champs, the Golden State Warriors, vs. the Houston Rockets, the Portland Trailblazers vs. the Denver Nuggets and the Milwaukee Bucks (the Eastern Conference regular season championships) vs. the Boston Celtics.
Keep a close eye on the Bucks vs. Celtics series, as the winner will play the Raptors winner of the Raptors vs. 76ers series.
