A quick, easy and fun way to get ‘the gist’ of what’s going on in the sports world.

Only ‘the gist’ of what you need to know, when you need to know it.

The GIST: We have a new king and queen of tennis: Novak Djokovic (pronounced JOKE-OH-VITCH) and Simona Halep are Wimbledon champions.

The GIST: The Los Angeles Angels honoured recently passed pitcher Tyler Skaggs with an emotional tribute and a combined no-hitter (when two or more pitchers throw a complete game, whereby the opposing team isn’t able to record a hit) on Friday night.

Let’s go to the beach beach, let’s go get away: This weekend, Canadian duo Sarah Pavan (of Kitchener) and Melissa Humana-Paredes (of Toronto) beat Americans April Ross and Alexandra Klineman 2–0 to win the World Beach Volleyball Championship! Yasss Queens. This is Canada’s first-ever world beach volleyball championship win. The win also cemented the pair a spot at the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics. Keep reading.
